AMERICAN GUN is a powerful series of interwoven storylines that bring to light how the proliferation of guns in America dramatically affect and shape the every day lives of its citizens.

Review

A very powerful movie about the effect of guns on American society. We absolutely LOVED this movie, and were surprised it isn't more well-known!

The movie absolutely rocked. It has a sort of Crash-feeling to it...but we actually liked this a lot better than Crash. It seemed more original, and definitely more powerful.

American Gun follows a few story lines at the same, each very powerful in its own way. The one that affected us most though, was the one of the single mom (wonderfully played by Marcia Gay Harden, she is SO awesome). She and her son David are still struggling every day with the aftermath of a high school shooting in their town three years ago, because her other son, Robert, was one of the shooters. We find that out in the first scene, and it immediately puts the characters into perspective. The mom is so sad and desperate for her other son to not end up like that - and everyone else in the town pretty much blames her for everything.

Nikki plays Tally, one of only a couple of people who talk to David at his new school. As with everything she does, she rocks. And we're not being bias. Tally is immediately likable. Notes one critic : "Nikki Reed, who to this critic appears well on her way to movie stardom already, takes the few lines she has and steals a good bit of film with them".

In one of the other story lines, Linda Cardellini (Sam from ER!) was totally awesome too - actually, the whole cast was just perfect. The characters all felt so real and lifelike and we were completely drawn in. The stories really touched us.

So yea, we really loved it - totally go see it if you liked movies like Crash or have any kind of interest in American society or gun control.

American Gun Nominated In Spirit Awards 2007!

American Gun has been nominated in the 2007 Independant Spirit Awards, for Best Feature, Best Male Lead (Forest Whitaker) and Best Supporting Female (Marcia Gay Harden)! Nikki's role is the movie was small - but pivotal in its own way.
